A CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT RETREAT WITH CHARMAINE HORSBURGH
YOGA AND BOWSPRING TEACHER
Opportunity to spend a serene weekend in the beautiful surroundings of Temenos
Retreat Centre combined with an introduction to one of the most innovative and
rewarding, heart-opening movement practices of the 21st century.
FEEL AT HOME IN YOUR BODY
One of the first things I noticed when I began with the Bowspring alignment back
in 2013 was the undeniable sense of increased confidence it gave me, and being a
yoga teacher, it made perfect sense to want to share this sense of inner freedom and
expansion with others. Now the link between posture and self-confidence is well
known, especially to practitioners of the Bowspring since we consciously work to
counteract those defaults which keep the body in a closed state.
‘There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less
then the one you are capable of living.’
- Nelson Mandela
Whether you are an experienced yogi or an absolute beginner, I relish the
opportunity to introduce you to this outstanding postural alignment system that has
revolutionized my own practice and many others around the world. Wherever you
may fit on the movement spectrum, I invite you to bring your Beginners Mind so
that we may grow together.
This confidence building practice takes into account that the body is not a linear
regimented affair; instead, it is curvy, dynamic, light and springy. This is the
Bowspring alignment.
It is yoga in the true sense – the word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root Yuj – to
yoke, commonly referred to as union; a united synthesis of body, mind and spirit.
This is yoga and this is the effect a Bowspring practice offers.
We begin our retreat at 6 pm on the Friday evening for a short introduction,
followed by dinner in Tebaldi's Restaurant at 6.30 pm.
On Saturday morning we begin with a centering meditation practice, followed by
breakfast in Tebaldi's Restaurant; after which we will begin to explore the basic
principles and movements of this postural alignment system.
If the weather is fine, we have the option to practice in the garden.
In the afternoon we put together what we have learnt so far followed by a guided
meditation practice.
The evening is yours, to relax, sit in the beautiful atmospheric Well or simply take
a stroll around the gardens, enjoying the evening air.
On the Sunday morning, after meditation and breakfast, we take a look at what we
have learnt so far, putting into practice our newfound bodily freedom techniques.
We will conclude our practice by setting intentions and walking the labyrinth,
followed by a short meditation practice.
Finishing off our workshop around midday.
You may opt to take advantage of a free night stay in your room at Temenos or
use the afternoon to return home.
It is my wish that you go home with a lighter sense of ease and well-being that
comes from moving from the heart.
