ABOUT THE JEWISH SACRED SPACE OF ONENESS, BLESSINGS AND PRAYERS

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

It was with great joy that Temenos recently celebrated the blessing of our renovated Jewish shrine. This warm-hearted act of love was inspired by friends with Jewish roots. Using their many talents, they have recreated a sanctuary of deep peace and beauty. We were also deeply honoured to have Rabbi Greg Alexander come to bless their creative efforts and to celebrate the shared heart that is Temenos. I invite you to read more of the shrine's background and vision as shared by Pnina, a dear friend of our garden.

The recently decorated Jewish Sanctuary at Temenos was consecrated and wonderfully blessed by Rabbi Greg and Andrea Alexander, on 27th January 2022 and it was created with deep gratitude to Billy, and everyone who makes, and has made, this Garden of the Beloved for so many of us.

God is One, All is One, is the fundamental and illuminating tenant of Judaism — and of Temenos — and this Sacred Space is dedicated to Oneness, Prayers and Blessings.

The renovation began in early 2021 as the idea of cleaning up the small stone building alongside the great Buddha. Cleaning up turned into something else altogether — an incredible alchemy co-created with gifted, soulful and generous friends: Moishe, Andre Vorster, Quentin, Marijke Van Vlaanderen Basson Percy Small Robin Yule, Robert Yule Lies, Kruger, Ya’akov Brandon, Liny Kruger and Natalie Stipcich!

What you’ll find:

At the entrance, the 7-branch Menorah candelabra has symbolised wisdom, light and creation for millennia, and this metal one is well over 100 years old.

The handprints on the two banners belong to the wonderful people who work at Temenos, beginning with Billy and running chronologically to the most recent team members.

Inside, on the walls, are the crystals of Aaron’s breastplate, as noted in the Book of Exodus, including Carnelian, Lapis Lazuli, Jasper. Amethyst and Emerald.

The sacred geometry of the Magen David is powerful and mesmerising, and it’s combined here with the Flower of Life.

An invitation to feel the energy and love of ancient symbols, sacred geometry, crystals and silk!

God is One, All is One.
